Timely
Comics introduced Captain America in March 1941. The book was one of the most
popular books during World War II, but fell off after the war. Captain America
ceased publishing in 1950. Marvel Comics resurrected Cap in March 1964 when the
Avengers found the hero frozen in suspended animation. Cap eventually became
the leader of the hero squad, starred in his own comic series, and has been featured
in the recent Marvel movies
