Turning Points in History: Prehistoric Version 2

The next turning point in history came with agriculture. When humans began to grow their own food and develop a surplus, civilizations were born. Alongside the onset of civilization came trade, governments, legal codes, role specialization, class distinctions, etc.

The key was the development of a surplus. A surplus of food meant time for others to do things other than farming and led to wealth creation. The human race would remain in the agricultural age until the time of the American Revolution.

Agriculture began around 8000 BC in Mesopotamia and the earliest civilizations began around 5000 BC.
