George Weiss: Baseball Hall of Fame Class of 1971


Born: June 23, 1895

1913: Attended Yale

1915: Founded New Haven MaxFeds in Colonial League

1919: Purchased New Haven's Eastern League franchise & named them the Profs

1919-29: Ran the Profs

1930-1: Ran the Baltimore Orioles of the International League

1932-47: Created and ran New York Yankee farm system

1947-60: Yankee GM

1961-6: New York Mets President and GM

1966: Passed on drafting Reggie Jackson because Jackson was black.

1971: Elected to HOF

Died: 1972

Accomplishments:

Created Yankee farm system

14x World Champion

4x Executive of the Year
